| President Jim Marks invites you to Leadership Summit |
 |
 |
 |
| |
| Dear Volunteer Leader:The new year brings new possibilities — and new opportunities. This is especially true at the CPCU Society, where the freshness of the calendar intensifies our commitment to your success. In keeping with the season, we are resolved to help you sharpen your leadership skills, advance your career and enlarge the influence of the CPCU Society in 2011. And that’s why the Leadership Summit is such an exciting prospect on the horizon, because it helps us accomplish so much. This year’s Summit will take place at a new and especially attractive site — The Doral in Miami, on April 14–16. But the tranquil surroundings and fantastic golf courses are secondary to the intellectual and networking activity that is the hallmark of the Summit program. Six different CPCU Society Center for Leadership courses, all for a single price of $225, will be offered to you and to all Society members — as well as four custom chapter and interest group leader workshops that are also designed just for you. So after you gain new leadership tools, the workshops will provide challenges and opportunties that will put them to good use. As always, we also have some fun, including three days of networking opportunities at luncheons, receptions and dinners with hundreds of your fellow CPCUs — a proven bonus of the Summit. The connections and conversation you will take away from these informal gatherings will immeasurably fortify your experience in Miami. This year we suggest you get the buzz going early about the Summit. The Society has launched a special subgroup on its LinkedIn site devoted especially to this event. It’s a terrific vehicle for sharing your thoughts, experiences and ideas about the Summit and for encouraging your colleagues to attend. To join this special group, go to www.cpcusociety.org, and click the LinkedIn icon at the bottom left of the homepage. Once you have joined the Society’s main group, click on ‘more’ in the menu on the top, then select ‘subgroups,’ then click on ‘2011 Leadership Summit,’ then click ‘join subgroup.’ And remember to register online today for the 2011 Leadership Summit. If you have questions, e-mail the Society’s Member Resource Center or call (800) 932-CPCU (2728) option 5.On a personal note, this will be my 25th “mid-year” meeting. I have witnessed and admired the eagerness, commitment and determination of volunteer leaders like you for a quarter century now. As this new year begins, I feel the same passion to see you succeed as I did attending my first Society meeting. I can’t wait to see you! Yours truly, |

| Why CPCU? |

Set Yourself Apart
Nothing compares to the Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU®) professional designation. Nothing. CPCU is recognized and respected as the premier designation in property-casualty insurance. And the CPCU designation after your name speaks volumes about you and your insurance knowledge.
In becoming a CPCU, you will:
- Gain in-depth, broad-based knowledge in risk management and insurance.
- Learn practical skills that you can put to work immediately.
- Learn how to make better decisions on the job.
- Distinguish yourself from your peers while demonstrating your commitment to professionalism.
- Earn the respect accorded those who hold the designation.
The CPCU curriculum balances practical skills with insurance and risk management theory. By learning the why and not simply the what, you will have a better understanding of the p-c business and will be able to make better business decisions.
There are more than 65,000 CPCU designation holders. They are insurance professionals just like you. They are claim adjusters, underwriters, risk managers, brokers, agents, regulators, consultants, attorneys, and educators.
As a CPCU candidate, you will learn about the financial, legal, operational, and technical aspects of risk management and insurance. You can even choose either a personal or commercial insurance concentration, depending on your professional background and needs.
You set the pace for your CPCU study, but we will help you get there with resources including:
- Study materials developed by industry experts
- Our exclusive SMART study aids to help you learn more efficiently
- Institutes Online classes for all CPCU courses
- Convenient testing windows so you can study throughout the year
- Listings of public CPCU classes around the country
Like anything that is worth doing, earning the CPCU designation requires commitment and it is a commitment well worth making. Not sure? Just ask Mike Mee, CPCU, AU, AIM, ARM, AIC, a senior insurance risk analyst:
“I can’t say enough good things about the CPCU designation because it has played a crucial role in my career advancement.”
Get started today.
